IT setup for dental, medical and vet clinics in Sydney
Opening a new practice or upgrading your rooms? I set up the computers, network, practice software and backups so everything works on the day you open, and I work alongside your builder or shopfitter so the cabling and power end up in the right places. You deal with me from the first walkthrough to handover.
What I set up for clinics
Practice software
Server and workstation setup for your practice management software, including Dental4Windows and Zavy360, plus moving your data across when you change computers or servers. For other systems I work directly with your software vendor so their install goes in without surprises.
Email and staff logins
Microsoft 365 email with a separate login for each staff member instead of shared passwords. When someone leaves, their access can be turned off the same day and their email kept for the practice.
Network and Wi-Fi
Network cabling, business grade Wi-Fi and internet, with staff computers, clinical devices, payment terminals and guest Wi-Fi kept on separate networks so one can't reach the other.
Workstations and reception
Reception and surgery computers, monitor mounts, printers, scanners and phones, chosen to suit how your rooms actually work and set up so staff can log in and start on day one.
Backups and failover
Encrypted local and cloud backups of your patient database, and a 4G or 5G backup internet connection so reception keeps taking bookings and payments if the main line drops.
New clinic or existing rooms
Opening a new clinic. I come in while the fit out is being planned, mark out where data points, power and screens need to go, then set up the network, computers and software once the builders are done. You open with everything tested.
Upgrading an existing practice. Replacing an old server, moving to new computers or changing practice software. I plan the changeover and do the work after hours or over a weekend so patients and staff aren't affected during clinic hours.
Patient data and privacy
Health practices hold some of the most sensitive information there is, and the Privacy Act applies to health service providers regardless of their size. I set up staff logins with the right access levels, automatic screen locks, encrypted storage and backups, and keep clinical systems off the guest network. If you want the detail, I've written a full guide on IT setup for a medical or dental practice.
From dental clinics I’ve worked with
“When we opened our dental clinic, he was the person in charge of setting everything up from day one. From selecting the most suitable computers and phones to managing the full installation and transition, he ensured everything ran smoothly and efficiently.”
Blue Wave Dental, Abbotsford · Google review
In 2025 I replaced the whole computer setup at Dentocare: the server, reception, both consult rooms and the lab. I’m still the person they call when anything plays up.
How it works
- Free IT Health Check or walkthrough. I look at your rooms, plans or current setup and ask how your clinic runs day to day.
- Fixed quote. A written list of what I'll do, the equipment needed and the price. No hourly meter running.
- Setup and testing. Network, computers, software and backups installed and tested before you open or before the changeover.
- Handover. Staff walkthrough, written notes on how everything is set up, and support afterwards if you want it.
Questions clinics ask
Do you do the building or joinery?
No. I handle the technology only. I work alongside your builder or shopfitter so data cabling, power points and monitor brackets end up where your equipment needs them.
Which practice software do you work with?
I've set up and supported Dental4Windows and Zavy360. For other practice management systems, I prepare the network, server and workstations to the vendor's requirements and work with their support team on the install, so you're not stuck between two parties pointing at each other.
Can you move our patient database to a new server or new computers?
Yes. I plan the move with your software vendor, take a full backup first, and do the changeover after hours or over a weekend so clinic hours aren't affected.
Do you only work in the Hills District?
No. I'm based in the Hills District and set up clinics across Sydney and the surrounding areas.
